A message from Jen:

We are hosting the 3RD annual SMILEY RILEY BEACH BASH.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our children with Down Syndrome and their siblings (parents, too) to enjoy the beach and the activities we will conduct along with its highlight... SURFING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Riley's 2 1/2 now going on 22!  She is walking, talking, climbing, playing, biting (much to my chagrin!), and being a typical 2 year old!  And the cool thing about our beach bash this year is that Riley's planning on surfing!  Since we've had her, so many of you have helped us in one way or another, directly or indirectly, and we want to give back.   So... here are the particulars:

On SUNDAY, AUGUST 17TH, 2008 from 10AM - 2PM at Shepherd Park in Cocoa Beach, my family and I will host the 3Rd Annual Smiley Riley Beach Bash.  This party is for our Brevard County children with Down Syndrome and their families.  With regards to the surfing aspect, our 2 requirements are that your child(ren) is/are 8 years old or older and  MUST be a good swimmer(s).  Our main sponsor -- again this year -- is RON JON SURF SCHOOL, and it is through RON JON SURF SCHOOL that our highly-trained, CPR certified surfing instructors will be teaching the children how to surf.   We are excited about offering another year of experiences; however, while the beach activities and the food are OPEN TO ALL DS FAMILY MEMBERS, the surfing slots are limited.

*REGISTRATION FOR ALL KIDS (surfing or not) NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP!  See below and respond by FRIDAY, AUGUST 1ST, 2008, so we can get food and t-shirt and registration counts correct.  And with the exception of parking, this is a free event!

 Please, complete #1 for each child attending and send to me ASAP; then complete #2 and bring to the beach:

1.)  If your family is attending, please, send the following information for EACH child with DS  AND  his/her sibling(s). 

     a.  Child's name (indicate DS, please)

     b.  age

     c.  gender

     d.  t-shirt size (youth xs, s, m, l OR adult s, m, l, xl, xxl)

     e.  contact information -- telephone number(s) and e-mail

     f.  TOTAL number attending in your party (the parent(s) and child(ren) total)

2.  If your child(ren) is/are surfing, go on-line to ronjonsurfschool.com

     a.  Click on "FORMS"

     b.  Click on "RELEASE FORM" and print this form. 

     c.  Fill out the release form and bring the COMPLETED and SIGNED form (one for each

          surfer) to the check-in tent @ 10 on the morning of the beach bash (AUGUST 17TH).

3.  Don't forget your favorite beach items, especially the sunscreen!!!!!
